Reconstruction of the railway line Shkozet-Kavajë

Facts and Figures

Project overview

With the help of this investment, the improvement of the parameters of the railway line was realized, such as the increase of the speed of movement on the line, the system of drainage of water from the soil left during the construction of the highway, the replacement of the ballast of the track, since this material had lost its ability and stability to resist vertical forces caused by the movement of railway vehicles.
As a result of the weakening of the physical and mechanical qualities of the ballast material, the railway line has suffered deformations with successive ups and downs.
Along the entire length of the railway line from km 6+500 - km 7+500 with a length of 1 km, the level of the railway line was raised due to the fact that the soil thrown from the construction of the highway had hindered the possibility of draining the water of the line and the line all the time it was in the presence of moisture, because the removal of the soil thrown from the construction of the highway could not be realized since it had turned into a green environment.
In the railway line from km 6+500 - 7+500 and in km 11+000 - km 12+000, the replacement of the ballast made of coarse stone material, the cleaning of the slope of the railway line, the completion of the line with new wooden sleepers after the existing sleepers they were rotten and out of order.
In the part of the line from km 6+500 to km 7+500, a side channel was opened on the left side of the mileage increase with a length of 500 m for the collection of water and the systemization of the water in the 600 mm culvert that was built.
The 600 mm railway culvert was built at the lowest level of the line at km 6+500 - 7+500 for the withdrawal of all the waters of the side channel in both directions on the left side of the mileage increase. The removal of water from the railway culvert was connected to the discharges of the road culvert.
A total of 2 km of railway line rehabilitation was carried out.
