Construction of Luzni bridge

Facts and Figures

Project overview

The construction of the Luzni Bridge is among the biggest works after the 90s in Dibër, which was built over the river Drin i Zi, with a length of 97 m with 4 spans of 24.4 m each, which serves to connect the areas of Luzni with the City of Peshkopia.
Luzni lies on a mountainous terrain to the west of the city of Peshkopia, and the construction of this bridge has made it possible for the inhabitants of this area to communicate with the city of Peshkopia as quickly as possible, shortening the road of 20 km. The realization of this object was done under very difficult conditions from the construction point of view due to the lack of roads and the difficulty of building in a rugged mountainous terrain. Within the project for the construction of the Luzni Bridge in Dibër, a number of important works have been carried out for the creation of a stable and functional infrastructure. Works include:

1- Substructure:

  • Excavating soil and rock for foundations, creating a solid foundation.
  • Filling with gravel for islands and placing M-150 concrete and M-100 blocks for reinforcement.
  • Drilling of boreholes and construction of river diversion pads.
  • Supply and placement of sheet metal and iron for substructures, as well as M-300 reinforced concrete for columns, slabs and pavements.

2- Superstructure:

  • Use of M-300 concrete for precast beams, slabs and diaphragms.
  • Two-layer waterproofing and 4 cm thick asphalt concrete layer for protection.
  • Supply and installation of exhaust details with PVC pipes and movable and fixed bearings for stability of the structure.
